Tortoise

Tortoise - (Hebrew: tsabh). Ranked among the unclean animals (Lev. 11:29). Land tortoises are common in Syria. The Septuagint renders the word by "land crocodile." The word, however, more probably denotes a lizard, called by the modern Arabs dhabb.
